The undergraduate chapter is pleased to announce that it has carried the momentum it built during a memorable fall semester and is well into an equally memorable and successful spring semester. The chapter's recent noteworthy accomplishments include the recruitment of four pledges for spring pledge class. Of course, the chapter is looking for worthy pledges year round , so if you know of any incoming freshman for the 2012-2013 school year that you believe are worthy of the brotherhood, please contact upcoming rush Chairman, Patrick McHugh, at

In academic news, the chapter recently learned that it completed the fall semester with a cumulative GPA of 3.19, which placed sixth among fraternities on campus. And, of course, the chapter is striving to top that mark in the spring, even while maintaining a busy social calendar, which includes Derby Days. As you will recall, all proceeds raised during Derby Days benefit charitable organizations, including the Children's Miracle Network. If you or someone you know is interested in exploring the corporate sponsorship possibilities for Derby Days, please contact Patrick McHugh at the email address or phone number above.
Finally, the chapter is pleased to announce that, at its recent formal in New Orleans, Ms. Taylor Clark was named this year's Sweetheart. All the brothers were proud to bestow this honor on Taylor and are thankful for all her support of the Chapter.
Two years ago the Council brought back the annual Golf Tournament, and this year we bring back another great tradition: the Fall Party. This was a regular event for many years and had somehow fallen off the annual calendar. Well it is back and it was a great success. 170 attendees (100 undergrads, and 70 alumni) came to the event and thankfully we were 10 short of fire code capacity. Looks like we will have to find a bigger location next year. Food was prepared by Chef Dieter Quinn that included and entire smoked pig plus the fixings. Music was provided by Beta Psi Alums, Matt Palmer and Chad Havens. Special thanks to Megan Babb, Mary Ann Carley, and Jessica Rice who not only helped throughout the night but also stayed late to help cleanup. Also, thanks to everyone who attended and helped support the Beta Psi Council.
We look forward to next year and the Spring Golf Tournament,
Bailey, Garrett, Stephen, and Taylor

Marilyn Somers of Georgia Tech Living History is producing a video for Homecoming that is called "Animal Life at Georgia Tech." They are looking for stories about animals that have been on Campus from the beginning to now. They currently have a few dogs at fraternities that they plan to feature.
They are seeking people interested in Tech history from different eras. Of course, Stumpy's bear and Sideways will be in the video, but Mrs. Somers would love to hear about some more exotic pets. Surely there has been a boa constrictor or iguanas or parrots over the years.
Please contact Marilyn Somers directly if you want to provide feedback to Living History using the contact information listed as follows:

We would like to thank you all for your support of our Derby Days program this year. We raised over $2,500 for Children’s Miracle Network through many fundraisers including Trivia Night, Pie a Sigma Chi, Penny Wars, and more. This success elevates the chapter in the eyes of the school and the community, and would not have been possible without your help. We look forward to your continued generosity during next year’s Derby Days.
